This tool compares latency between speaker/wired earphones and wireless earphones.
β Single test results have no reference value because human reaction time itself takes about 150~300ms after hearing a sound.
β The correct approach: First test speaker, then test wireless earphones, take the difference. Since human reaction time is constant, the difference represents the additional latency of wireless earphones.
Test each device 3~5 times. The more stable the difference, the more reliable the result.
How to use:
1. The system will play one two three go audio
2. When you hear "go", click the button immediately
3. Click several times, observe the average difference at the bottom
Speaker/Wired vs Wireless
Bluetooth and wireless earphones (including TWS earbuds) add extra audio delay compared to wired headphones or your phone's built-in speaker. This free online tool measures that extra latency in seconds β right in your browser, with no app to install and no microphone required.
Human reaction time β the gap between hearing a sound and tapping a button β is roughly 150β300ms. A single measurement therefore mixes your reaction time with the earphone's delay, so one number alone is meaningless. Test the speaker first, then the wireless earphones, and subtract the two averages. Your reaction time cancels out, and what remains is the earphone's true added latency.
What is a good Bluetooth latency? Standard Bluetooth earphones add about 100β250ms. Gaming or low-latency modes can reach 30β80ms. Lower is better for gaming, video calls and watching video.
Why does each test give a different number? Reaction time is not perfectly constant. Average 3β5 tests per device and delete obvious mistakes with the β button for a stable result.
Does this work on iPhone / iOS? Yes. This is a manual tap-based test that needs no microphone permission, so it works on iOS, Android, Windows and Mac with nothing to install.
Is a single measurement meaningful? No. Only the difference between wireless and speaker reveals the earphone's added delay.
